List of invasive alien species considered to be of Union concern

The list of Union concern entered into force on 3 August 2016, updated on 2 August 2017. Since these species are classified as invasive alien species throughout the EU, their importation, cultivation, sales and other possession or release into the environment are prohibited. Owners may keep their companion animals included on the List of species of Union concern until the end of the animal's natural life. The condition for being allowed to do so is that the animal was kept as a pet before its inclusion on the list.
